Milestones cover

Milestones – Hartsville Centennial is available for sale in our Gallery Store.  It is a book of Centennial

Histories of Hartsville, 1891-1991. “The determination to preserve Hartsville’s heritage is as well organized and sensibly nourished as anywhere in the South.  For this we have reason to be thankful for the caring civic consciousness of some very  special individuals.  This collection of reminiscences has resulted from a group of  worthy Hartsvillians who were determined to preserve the values and beauty of the past in order to reconcile it successfully with the triumphs and inevitabilities of the future.” – Elizabeth Boatwright Coker

Recollections of The Major  is a collection of papers which relates “incidents or stories concerning him (Major James Lide Coker) with special emphasis on his character and personality.”  This book gives not only a true account of The Major’s character and personality but also a glimpse of what life was like in Darlington County from 1837-1918.
